MWB Naturals School motivated me to want to embrace natural hair skills more. At the time I was going through so much in my personal life and  I couldn't afford to pay the tuition..  The S.E.L.F. Image Awards board voted to give me a fully paid scholarship and all of the tools and equipment that I needed.

The class was only one week long but, for me, it was life-changing. Not only did I get training in braiding, locking, and professional hair care during that week, but I also came back and received additional training in micro-locs. Madam Walker kept pouring into me, and I was brought back for Galas and other opportunities. It was a pleasure to work with Shanti Walker as well. He was an excellent teacher and I learned a lot of skills from him too.

My name is Angelia Lewis and I am graduate of N.A.P.S. Academy/MWB Naturals. I met Marci in 1996. I enrolled in her beginner's program when she taught at Prince George's Community College. After completing that program, I took the advanced braid technician course in 1998 and then the Natural Hair Care and Loctician Course in 2004.

 I love her teaching style. You will come away with so much confidence and knowledge about the Natural haircare industry.  Marci is very caring, patient, compassionate and very understanding with her students. She wants nothing but the best for each and everyone who takes her courses and she becomes a life-long Mentor to every graduate.  Not only does she take the time to educate her students with the knowledge and know-how about natural hair care, she encourages and empowers her students to live and be their best authentic self. She imparts wisdom and guidance that has helped me, my family and so many others in all aspects of our lives. I am so blessed and so grateful to have Marci as a Mentor, Teacher and friend!

I am delighted to write this letter on behalf of the wonderful work of Marci Walker, a devoted and impactful member of our community Madam Walker N.A.P.S Training Academy is a valuable voice in our community which has, for the past 30 years, played a pivotal role in providing education, professional development and care to survivors of domestic violence. Bi -Annually she hosts The SELF Image Awards Inc. which celebrates advocates of domestic violence while supporting survivors on their journey towards healing and independence.
Through Marci's Hair salon, she not only offers services to women and girls undergoing life transition but also goes the extra mile by providing full scholarships to deserving women in need of enhancing their quality of life. These scholarships play a crucial role in helping women build the skills and confidence necessary for independent living.
The funds that The SELF Image Awards contributed to our non-profit organization have made a significant difference. 
Her innovative spirit and dedication to personal development make her a beloved and respected member to our organization.

I was privileged to be a part of the N.A.P.S. family years ago. Madam Walker and Shanti are not only skilled and experienced in what they do, but they are also extremely amazing individuals overall. They welcomed me like family and made my learning experience beautiful and not stressful. They taught me well and equipped me with all I needed to be the best in the hair industry. Because of this beautiful experience, I was blessed to be showcased in the Golden Scissors Awards with Mr Glynn Jackson! I've done some amazing work and made many clients very happy. This knowledge has blessed me in many ways and I'm extremely grateful for the opportunity.

 I had been Ms Walker’s Sisterlocks client since 1999 until her retirement! Mrs. Walker is a master at her trade! She has so much knowledge, expertise and a knack for natural hair care. She is an exemplary teacher, mentor and most importantly, a wonderful person. As a student, I can assure that you will receive top notch training in natural hair care! Mrs. Walker is truly a gem!!
